Non-freezing waterer idea

Anyone ever tried something like this?

Our oldest 10-horse barn had an interior water tank that never froze. It was about the size of a large cistern and was backfilled chest high. Saw ice on it once... the temps had gone down to 24 below zero, which was a warm up from the 27 and 29 below of the previous two days! Tough winter... when carrying said water to stalls, if you spilled any on you it was froze before you knew it!

The tanks are a great idea... imo!
