Smile Like mother, like daughter

Polly, my big Saanen, is very vocal when she is in heat - she hollers for three days! This morning, Tiara, her doeling, let me know in no uncertain terms that she wants to go visit the "boys". She'll be five months old next week, so I told her that she's far too young to be thinking of going on a date. Typical teenager, she didn't listen - she's still hollering! Ah well, it's nice to know that I won't have to guess when she's in heat.

Talking

Don't we wish human teenagers gave us similar clues so we could lock them in closets until "that" passed. Unfortunately, from what a friend told me, the main clue is the attitude that arrives at age 12ish and persists until they head off for college. At age 42, I sometimes reread over my journal from high school and roll on the floor laughing at the "voice" I had put into my writing: golly, my mom was sure a saint to put up with me...all that self-righteous indignation! When a friend (whose daughter is now DA for the neighboring county) was called to pick up his 6th grade daughter from school because she'd been caught kissing a boy at recess , he told her if it EVER happened again, he'd send her to boarding school in Arizona and the only boy she'd see until age 18 would be Jesus (I'm saving that one for my daughter-she's in 2nd grade and I'm planning ahead).

"Fair"- the other 4 letter F word." This epiphany came after almost 10 days straight at our county fair.

Well, fortunately I only have to deal with adolescent goats!

Mind you, DH's girls are 15 (16 in a few weeks) and 13. So far as I know, they haven't shown any interest in boys - yet!
