a kinder is a small breed that is a female nubian with a pygmy buck. The rest of the miniature dairy breeds are a purebred full size dairy doe crossed to a nigerian dwarf buck. If the doe was a nubian, her kids are first generation miniature nubians.
I also raise registered miniature goats, which can be any cross or purebred within a certain height and conforming to the standard... You can register unregistered pygmies (which is what I did) and then breed whoever to whoever you want and slowly change them to miniature diary goats or meat goats, or fiber goats... That's what I like about that.... Check them out at www.nmga.net

Kinder goats are Nubian does bred to pygmy buck-guess they can milk pretty good. For mini "dairy"-they are using nigerian dwarf bucks on dairy does-"mini lamancha-mini nubain" ect. With all, i think it is 5 generations to be considred "pure mini"-Use the smaller buck on the bigger doe though-not the other way around--too risky of kidding problems.

If you want a milking goat, I'd suggest an ND buck crossed with one of the standard breed does - lamancha, nubian, etc.

For milk and meat, I suggest Kinder goats -- they give as much milk as a ND, are easier to milk (taller) and have nice meaty kids who grow quickly.

Dona, how do you register a non registered Pygmy? I have two, NOA, that have been bred my Nubians for Kinders. (Due Dec. 16th!)

As long as the unregistered pygmies (mainly what mine are, except for Daisy, who I think has some Nigerian in her because she throws alot of odd colors not known in the pygmy world) go to www.nmga.net . (the National Miniature Goat Association) That is where all my 'pygmies' will be registered, though not as pygmies... They will be "Miniature Goats". I really like the sound of this registry, you can show your goats in different classes of meat, milk, or fiber if you so wish (or just conforming to the standard) though they haven't started shows yet. They're a very new registry, just 5 years old. This allows for crosses and combinations to be made to your desire, producing some interesting crosses and breeds, not to mention COLORS! LOL
If your goats aren't from registered stock, then they are called 'foundation' and if the kids come from two foundation goats they are purebred, if within the purebred standard. You can read all about it on thier website.
The reason for my registering my goats is that thier value goes up... And as soon as there are shows I plan to start going!! Can't wait!
