Talking Hoof clipping - Proud of myself

I am so proud of myself! Well me and my mom . We clipped up 21 goats hooves today! I did most of it as my mom is learning how to clip hooves so I had to go back and show her the finer points of things. I still have I think 5-6 goats left that need done but still most of the herd is DONE!

WAHOO! Now to take care of my aching back . It only took us about 3 hours to do them all so all in all thats pretty good. GO US!!!!!

Did you say you wondered what Indiana looked like this time of year? There wouldn't be 21-so it wouldn't take you 3 hours!
Yes, be proud of the 2 of you!

I drove past the goat farm where I bought my goats, and the Saanen buck Victor was CHAINED up by the road (normally in a nice pen with two wethers). DH exclaimed "what's that stuff all over his face and chest?" Then the smell hit us!

Victor is huge, and I worry about that poor old fella handling him. He was so sweet in June when we bought the goats, but he looked psychotic that day (the buck, not the old fella ).

Good luck doing your bucks and be VERY careful!!!

I'm doing my second hoof trimming this week, and since it's rained and made the ground wet, the hooves are SO much easier to trim.

My bucks will hop on my milkstand and get their hooves trimmed. My guys are such gentlemen (unless I smell like a girl in heat then I am their girlfriend ). I just don't want to have to handle their sticky crusty legs ...YUCK!

I thank goodness my guys are easy going and gentle...if they where not they wouldn't be here or be used for breeding. I won't use a aggressive, hard to handle, scaredy cat buck for breeding(noticed it passes on to the babys and I HATE squirrly kids!)

We tried something for the first time that a friend told us about. Use a pair of shears to get wall where it folds over, then we used a dremmel to smooth and get the pads. It was awesome, saves a ton of time. You have to try it.
