Question Goat cross question

I will admit right off that I do not know very much about goats.... I have one Angora goat (female) bought her when she was bred and she had twins (dogs killed them) - I have sheep and my Alex looks pregnant.... I'm assuming that she was bred to one of my Border Leicester rams.... Can they do this? If so, what will it be?

Sheep and goats HAVE been known to crossbreed, but it ends up with a nonviable pregnancy. The doe will abort early or have a stillborn malformed fetus.

pasotami, what you may have is a fat and healthy goat. A well fed goat often looks bred to many people. Their rumens get big and full and they can often fool us. Is your goats udder filling out? Is her vulva swelling? Is their a discharge? Does she groan when she lies down as if she is just miserable? Look for clues and keep posting...this is quite interesting. ...oh, and are you sure there is no buck goat in the area that could have jumped a fence and made a visit?

Well, Alex may just be really fat.... she seems to be an absolutely no discomfort, I'll have to check her sac (can't see it for her wool), and she does not groan or moan so hopefully I have just a really healthy goat. The nearest neighbor with a buck is will over a mile away and they have wonderful fences - if she is bred by him he would have to had wings.
Thanks a bunch and I'll keep you posted if anything "weird" happens.

Yes, let us know...I have several goats right now that are so fat that anyone who looked at them would swear they were pregnant and close to delivery...they are just simply pigs!

When it does happen(which is extremely rare) the cross of a sheep and a goat is known as a "geep" Something about sheep have 60 chromosones and goats have only 59, so it is usually the goat that can carry the baby. When they are bred to a sheep, they abort 3 months along.
