Wonderful rain!!!

Woke up at 5:30 to the sound of thunder and the flash of lightening. Started praying hard for the rain!! Rain started at 6:00 while I was setting up the milkbarn and running in the first six milkers. Good thing the does were already in the holding pen as it is *impossible* to get them from the loafing barn to the milkbarn when its raining hard. It rained the entire 3 hours of milking time. And it was a good soaking rain. Had a really hard time convincing the does to leave the barn after being milked as they thought the idea of going out in the rain absolutely repulsive. Finally found the perfect convincing tool....my water hose! When they found out they got wetter in the barn than they did going outside.....it didn't take them long to choose the lesser of two evils. You'd think they were going to melt in the short space between the milkbarn and the loafing barn...... Our creek is running, at least temporarily and this should really green up the pastures. Wonderful rain!! Maybe this will be the start of the fall rainy season that has elluded us for the last couple years.....

Emily ~ So glad you got some good rain...I'm west of you & didn't get a drop, but we may get some later...Sounds so good on a tin roof doesn't it & you'll see green real fast ...Our creek started drying up in July/Aug 3 years ago..my neighbor who had been here since '31 had never seen it dry...Be thankful for the blessing rain...Goat girls just don't understand rain is necessary for survival of goats.. I'm sorry!!! I didn't realize this rain was quite so localized. Just talked to another friend about 45 minuts south of here and they also got none of it. I am sorry to rub it in, I'll shut up now.........(Though I'm still doing this inside: ) Praying you'all get some of this rain as well!

Don't feel bad, Emily, we are glad to hear about rain anywhere. So glad you got it.
I'm watching rain on the radar just a few miles from us headed this way. Been praying for rain on our farm, too, so I sure hope it makes it.

Man I wish it would rain here . Hasn't rained all summer...not as bad as in other parts of the country but still. I LOVE milking when it is raining out...seems to peaceful and nice. I love the rain and miss it alot. Everything seems so much more cozy and nice when it rains . Glad you got some Emily!

Lucky you! We are 11 inches short of rainfall for the year so far. They are talking about the possibility of rain on Saturday - I am crossing my fingures big time. Anyway - I am happy for you that you are getting some!

Emily.. you weren't the only one that got rain! We got it up this way and DH just cut back some of the fields so I was hoping for rain to spruce them back up! And it's still wet up this way -- it's keeping me and Syd indoors much to her displeasure! LOL!
