It just doesn't work that way gals
A handful of anything is not going to do anything, yes a treat that is fine, but the minerals, the AC and the cocci drug has to be fed so bloodlevels are kept up. A handful is not going to do this. The bags are all dosed for 1 pound of feed per 30 to 50 pounds of body weight. So to get enough AC every single day they have to eat that much. Same with.............
Minerals,,,you have 3 bucks you add 3 teaspoons of AC to the mineral do they eat that much mineral every single day with the added AC in it?
Water,,,,,you add 3 teaspoons to your bucks water, do the 3 boys drink the water down to nothing each day? First that is unhealthy to the buck only getting a portioned amount of water, in too small of container the water overheats in the summer and they won't drink all the water they need, too small of containers also tip over. Too large of containers and it dilutes the amount of AC in the water and they aren't eating all of it.
AC only increases protein in your does diet, it is afterall only a mineral.
Unless you have a specific problem on your farm, bucks only need AC if you feed grain, when my bucks get grain prebreeding and after rut, they get AC in the grain, the rest of the year my bucks live off the woods, grass hay and alfalfa pellets which I put their minerals in....no AC because their diet is very low in phosphrous. Bucklings until well grown really need grain, so use AC with them. With a goal of breeding by 7 months, to get size you really need lots of milk and grain. Vicki
