wether problem

One of my wethers was hanging back from the food this morning. My husband banded the youngest bucklings several weeks ago and this guy's testicles had dried and are hanging from him by a string of dark red skin. My guess was that he was in pain. I gave him some biomycin and banamine. He's bound for the meat wagon, so I opted not to take him to the vet. Have any of you had this happen to a wether, and how did you treat it? I am afraid to cut this off for fear he'll bleed profusely.

It doubt it has anything to do with the banding especially after several weeks.

I would suggest you start by checking his temperature.

Has he gotten his CD/T shots? I've read that banding is a potential site for tetanus (T).

It wont hurt to cut it off if its below the band. Id check it for infection and maybe give a shot of penicillin

It looks like the skin with the fur is sloughing off and hanging from what is inside. He has been eating some today. I can see it is bothering him because he licks it. Maybe it's more annoying than painful. I'll keep him on a course of antibiotics. I think they're helping. He hasn't had CDT, but isn't showing signs of tetanus. I usually don't vaccinate my goats. This year, I did vaccinate the kids I plan to keep for breeding, but not the wethers.
