I was looking around at plans for round bale feeders and thought these links might help you with your project.

Thanks

The horse feeder and the last feeder both look good. I think I may by able to build one simular to the horse feeder but modified for goats. A sheep farmer has one simular to the first one, she uses the to devide up the pens. But they are only good for square bales.

I made one like the first, the "v" feeder out of 2" by 2"'s for the v. The goats were always in the feeder, but it worked great until they knocked a few of the slats out and then tore the catch tray off by always sleeping on it. After that I made the one out of cattle panels that are wired together into a v shape and hangs from the ceiling by baling wire. I just toss a bale on it and cut the twine. It's situated in a lean to shelter, and the hay they pull out and drop I just sort of consider bedding. I'm feeding 5 goats a sq bale a week that way.
I think the last photo looks pretty simple to make out of wood. I wonder about PVC pipe, it'd be lightweight but maybe expensive, I dont know.
I am intrigued, however, and that's why I keep coming back to it!LOL!
