Look at this Udder
I know very few believe me, but this is the udder of my yearling nubian doe we believe is pregnant - because she had no udder to speak of when we got her and now look! Best we can figure she would kid at the very earliest mid october. She has been living with our boer buck since may 15 and had no contact with a buck prior (she and her wether brother were the only goats on the farm and had never left the farm.)
So anyway, just so you don't go thinking I'm looney anymore - here it is...

Hope the link works!

Just had to post that I'm laughing my head off! I checked to make sure the link worked and I wondered how it is that I have become so obsessed with animal lactation that I send pictures of udders to online groups - - Oh, if you knew me a year ago, who'd'a thunk it?

Hey...everyone at the dinner table just looked at me real funny when I was opening a link on the internet of an UDDER...LOL. Just remember a doe from good milk lines can come into milk without having a kid/kids. My Saanen did it....year before.

WOW! I hope Shazza is right - that it is a good milk line. She would be bagged up for a very long time if she's not due until Oct. Ouch. Usually they don't show any signs of being pg until the last 6 weeks, is there a chance her brother wasn't wethered soon enough or that maybe the wethering didn't take 100% . . . just thinking out loud. lol
At any rate as a first freshener (spontaniuos <sp> or not) she should do a great job on the milkstand for you. Keep us posted.

I have Toggie maiden does due NOW and they have tiny udders that fit in my cupped hand....not good signs to get a LOT of milk. I would have a doe like yours anyday.

I agree-that is definatley bagged up alot more than i would expect for this short bred! She is definatley not bellied down, like she would be if further along-close to kidding. I would say, she is going to have one heck of an udder on her-come around Oct.! (we never really thought you were looney-just curious about what you were seeing!LOL) Keep us posted!

You have the internet at the dinner table??? I'm confused!
All I could say was:
VAVAVAVOOM! What an udder! (Picture wolf with spinning red eyes stamping his foot and howling a la Bugs Bunny cartoon)
I bet she milks about 20 lb. a day. You better feed her good.

We have a large dining/lounge room....slow people were still at the table whilst I jumped straight back to the pute....one can see the pute screen from the table.....are you un-confused now, is it clear.
I may have to re-think my Moops comment...seems more than one is hung up on details. :baby04:

I did wonder what was bugging him...just doesn't want to be left out, I guess. Gender discrimination.
And how about Skruzich---to paraphrase---"nobody wants to see you flip out an udder and feed your kid"
But Blade really got me going with his "It's taking Victoria's Secrets a little while with the cow bra..." remark...
Oop. Thread drift. Or maybe just "species drift"?

Ok, so what I'm getting is she doesn't look PG - which I confess if she is I have no idea what that would look like at this stage. The only other sign I can think of of her being PG is that she was REALLY loud when we got her and now she is really quiet. But that also could've been that she was stressed in her knew environment.
So I have to get her tested before I can try to milk her? if she's not PG and I wait then she will dry up, right? so I need to do this soon? She has already been like this 3-4 weeks BTW.

That is really odd. I would draw some blood and send it in for pg test. I think it's only $15. Then you'd know for sure. It has to be 30 days past breeding, I believe, for the test to be accurate. At least you'd know for sure.

I had a doe like this.
I had a doe like this who bagged up her first 2 years, but was never pregnant. The vet said her hormones were all messed up. Turn out she was sterile and could never kid. Last summer she bagged up then got mastitis and I had to put her down. Your goat may have hormone issues also. Watch for mastitis. We did not and it cost us a pet goat (she was no use to us as anything else, except maybe for the milk).

Here is where you send it:
http://www.biotracking.com/
You can draw the blood with a regular syringe, but you'll need a vacutainer to send it in, and you should be able to get a couple from your vet.
And here's a good description with pictures of how to draw the blood.
http://www.boergoats.com/clean/articleads.php?art=64
You can also have your vet do it.
