What's in your goat "med cabinet"?

Hi all, I'm in the process of getting set up for goats, probably going to start with two does or wethers just to get experience and make sure goats are a good match for us as a family.

It will be a few weeks before we get the fencing finished up and the barn divided off the way I want it, so I have that long to figure out and buy the things every goat owner should have on hand. Especially medications, and emergency supplies, what you wouldn't want to be without, etc.

I have a few books dealing with goats, and I printed off some info from fiascofarm.com, but I wanted to hear from "real" goat owners.

TIA

Pritchard Teat
Biosol
Spectrum Scour-Halt
Di-Methox Injection 40%
Sav-A-Caf brand for electrolyts
B-Complex-Plus later
Probios Dispersible Powder
Probios Bovine One Oral Gel
Goats Prefer Power Punch
weigh tape
Blue Ribbon Calf Electrolyte Pack
Sheep & Goat Drenching Syringe
Blood Stop Powder
Arplex Syringes
Goats Prefer Probiotic Power save with meds
CyLence Pour-On
CMT Kit
Nolvasan Teat Dip Concentrate or Iodine Udder Wash Concentrate

If give shots on your own you will also need if can get it is epinephrine. That prevents shock incase that should happen. You will have to ask the vet to help you get it.

If going to raise baby goats you might sometimes need Sav-A-Kid Milk Replacer or purinia goat milk replacer.

That is what all I have in my med cabinet. Plus I also keep Powerade, pdyelite or Gatorade too.

Good Luck on your goats.

Everyone will have different Opions also.

This is a link to my website. The second paragraph down is a list of all equipment that I keep. This is all stuff that I've used. I actually disagree about keeping milk replacer. Milk replacer is not good for baby goats. Whole milk from the store is better, and I am now using a mixuture of buttermilk, evaporated milk, and vitamin D milk from the store to bottle feed two babies and they're doing great. Most goats fail to thrive on milk replacer.

mygoat, I right now using both goats milk and goat milk replacer because it is working great for me. A person does not keep goat milk replacer in the med cabinet unless your expecting to have babies and maybe not enough goats milk to go around. I'm mixing half and half and it works good. But like I stated everyone has different opions and what works for one may or maynot work for another. I also got other things in my cabinet but can't type it all out to much.. Bout 400 bucks worth of stuff on the side. Heck someone post what do you have in your med cabinet so why not tell them what all you have or at least half of it.

Most goats fail to thrive on milk replacer. Not so because my little goat I have right now is gaining good weigh and happy. I also got about every type of size of needles you need alone with other things.

Good Luck on your goats PineRidge

Thanks for your responses. I printed this page, and the info from your website mygoats. I want to make sure I have a good handle on supplies before I get any animals and the only place close to me is a small feed store that would have to order most things, better to buy it now. I am lucky to have a great neighbor who vets her own horses so she agreed to show me how to give meds and injections if I ever need to.

I know all about opinions Allwolf, lol, but I actually don't have one since I know very little. And that is a change for me! Thanks for your help.
