Thank you, Emily / Ozark Jewels

This afternoon my friend Lonnie and I drove over to visit with Emily and her herd of dairy goats. The goats are wonderful, but Emily is the jewel.

Emily, thank you so much for the tour and for filling in some of my gaps in knowledge. The information that you provided off the top of your head was like that from someone with decades of experience, coming from a very young and lovely lady.

If anyone wants proof of the success of home schooling, you should visit Ozark Jewels. Emily and her siblings (especially the little brother, who has the best manners I've seen in a male that age) were a delight.

Thanks to Emily's instruction, in less than two hours, we drove away saying, "Yes, we can do this."

Emily said that all her 67 milkers have names, and after you work with them for six hours a day (in two milkings), they become family. We could see this in the way they respond to her as we walked into the pasture among the herd. She loves the goats, and the goats love and need her.

Emily stressed to us the commitment of having a dairy goats and widened our experience in the various breeds. It was altogether a fantastic visit. Thanks again, Emily.

That is so nice, we may be going there in the last part of August and I enjoyed reading that it will be well worth the trip.

Thrilling to read...sounds fantasticl!
A wonderful testament to homeschooling, too.
We hope that the journey we are just embarking on may some day take us to a dairy operation also. Our children would do well as they really enjoy working with animals. We homeschool too, and feel that caring for livestock is an important life skill which also helps to develop many other skills. I am thankful for resources and knowledge available here on this forum.

I was just thinking yesterday about how much I admire Emily. I've read so many posts by her and learned so much. I've read many posts about her and realized how young she is and I am truly impressed.

Emily, It's because of your article that I believe when the time comes I can handle butchering. I'd have never thought I could do that.

So Emily. Keep up the great work. You are admired and appreciated.

Ok y'all are going to have to stop this you know. Look out your window and see that bright red glow coming from the direction of southern Missouri?? Thats me, blushing like a beet!! Thank you all, I am very glad I could be of help to some folks. I have really enjoyed meeting those of you I have met, and think your a great group of people.
I would like to take this oportunity to say that, although I am more of the front person here at the dairy, I could never do it alone. My family has been 100% percent behind me and they do so much of the work. Its certainly a family effort. They are great!

I agree! Emily and her family are great folks. Her brothers and sisters all have nice manners, and they work HARD. Their herd of goats has many fine, fine-looking individuals. It is very evident that they are loved and well cared for. I have purchased several goats from Emily, and they are all sound, healthy and NICE.

Thank you, Emily!
