Drying up doe?

My daughter sold her Togg wether at the 4-H auction last week. Now, we need to dry up the Nanny. How should we go about this? I started by milking her only every other day and now I am only milking her a "small" amount every other day to relieve some of the pressure. I also gave her some of that antibiaotic that you put in the udders thru the teats. She is really engorged all the time right now and she has always been a tremendous producer of milk. I have stopped giving her grain (except when milking) but she is on pasture all day and has hay at night. Should I just stop milking cold turkey or progressive milk less like I have been? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Sounds like you are on the right track! I don't have dairy goats but am in the process of letting my pygmy doe dry up. We sold her buckling. So far I have not milked her at all but last night she leaked milk all over the sleeping bench. She doesnt seem in pain and her udder isnt hard or hot. I am going to do the method of letting her go a week if all goes well and milk her out then leave her alone. Some do as you are doing and milk every other day then every 3 then every 4 and so on. Just watch out for lumpy udder and or hot udder.
