Southern Ohio Goat Owners??

My husband and I live in South Central Ohio and are interested in investing in a dairy goat. We're wondering if anyone lives in the region that can maybe give us an introduction to goats and so on...introduce us and fill us in on the pleasures...and pains...of owning a dairy goat. We're hoping to have enough for drinking, butter, and cheese...though I know I need to look into some books on the last two....especially seperating the cream.

Any advice would be appreciated! I guess we'll also need to start looking for some for sale!

I've had good luck talking to goatowners at the fairs. Find a fair and check out the goats.

We plan on trying to attend both the Pike county fair and the Scioto county fair over then next two weeks and seeing what we can find out...just trying to cover all of our bases in our search for information and experience.
