Lost my little Oreo

Just wanted to say thank you to those that tried to help with what I thought may be bloat, when it turn, they were symptoms of either listeriosis or polio. I didn't treat early enough I suppose. I don't know. All I know is I could shoulda, coulda, and anyway else I could beat myself up over this when it won't bring my precious Oreo back to me. She was my first goat. I saw her right after she was born and fell in love. She brought me to having goats. She was only two. She will be greatly missed.

(((HUGS)))

My heart aches with you, that bond formed in your heart is precious and beautiful, may the memories keep that bond alive now. You were blessed with a special gift, may you receive more!

Blessings,
Tamar

I'm sorry to hear that you lost the fight for her.

It wasn't from lack of effort or love that's for sure.

Thank you all for your kind words. Sometimes I wished I didn't get so emotional over my animals. It makes it very hard sometimes to think of ever getting anymore. Even the thought of breeding and having babies again makes me cringe. But in order to have the milk, you have to breed. I just keep thinking "And this too shall pass".

I relate to the strong emotions as you said. It is a small price to pay for how much we enjoy and love our animals. I believe they somehow know when they are special to us, and it can only make their life happier for them, too.

What consoles me is that they never ask why? like we do, they just accept their lot and suffer less because of it.

Jillis-Yes she was and African Pygmy. She was not registered. Her mother could have been, but the previous owners bought her just as a pet and did not want to pay the extra for a registered goat. Her father was her brother so not sure about him at all except he passed the beautiful white belt she had on to her.

Goatkid-Yes we still have her baby. We were planning on selling her but now we are going to keep her.

Thank you all again for your kindness.

I had to log in and tell you I have tears in my eyes. So sorry for your loss, I love all my animals too. I get so mushy when it comes to animals.

Whenever I lose an animal I feel the same way. The pain is so intense I sometimes want to quit breeding. But time does heal all and the enthusiasm will return.

I've been kind of avoiding this thread since I first saw it...I lost a little guy to polioencephamalitis last year. It was awful. I can certainly feel your pain. She was beautiful.
