Maybe tonight!

I just went out to check on the goats because someone was hollering. Everything appeared normal but I decided to check Daisy's ligaments while we were out there. They are GONE! So, it should be within 12 hours right? This is our first time so I am a bit apprehensive, her first time too! Will she lie down when she goes in labor? I know I saw some photos a few weeks back and it looked like the goat was squatting when she had it.

How exciting! I don't have my goats yet, so I won't be experiencing this till next spring, hopefully, but I am anxious to hear how it all turns out! Good luck!

HA! I just went through this a week and a half ago. I had no idea when my goat was bred since we boarded her and the farmer acted like I was stupid for thinking she was getting a little full in the middle
So I thought MAYBE her ligaments were gone and turned her out into the goat yard right by the house telling the kids I thought it might be a week or so. (It had only been 149 days since the DAY I put her up at that farm.) She had no signs of anything other than starting to make a bag. Believe me I was obsessed...my husband was amused indeed.

So a short time later she kinda yelled for me once so I went out and looked at her butt for the 1,000th time- Nothing - Then around 20 minutes later she was yelling LOUDLY for me. I came out (HA! Ran out the door like a maniac, through mudd with bare feet, slipping and sliding down a hill more like it) just in time to help pull two little legs out so the baby could dive a little better (Thank you Fiasco Farms for that advice!) My girl Tore a little and she was thouroughly confused about what the heck just happened to her LOL.

So all that to say...you may wanna stick around, some does just don't show any signs after those ligaments go.

Well it is now 7 am and still no other signs except she gets real testy when I try to touch her belly! I have been up most of the night with her and she will softly cry sometimes then go back to chewing her cud. She has eaten some hay and brush throughout the night. I keep looking at her rear end but it still looks the same, no discharge, puffiness or anything.Maybe sometime today!

My first doe to birth showed all kinds of signs..pawing,grinding teeth, getting up & down a billion times. Finally had to jump in and help her out.She was hollering and flip flopping like a fish.
The second doe pulled a fast one and gave birth really quietly while I was out feeding the other animals, just came back to her pen and BAM there was a cutey pie lil kid jsut sitting there LOL
The most noticable sign for a newbie like me was the goo, then within 2 hours baby appears.
Just pen her up and check every so often, best of luck!!

I'll be in your shoes next spring , but have been "doing the reading". The vaginal discharge just prior to birth is a clear, amber mucus according to a great pictorial website, could've been Fiasco Farms, I'll have to look.

Altho 95% give birth w/o any problems or your attendance even, if you are there make sure the presentation is correct, a little nose and both front hooves should come out at once, and sounds like the kid should just come right out naturally. You could just sit back, make some warm molasses water for the doe afterward, and enjoy the experience!

Ok! We finally have a little doeling born around 3 pm today. I am pretty sure she has either one or two more as she still looks large! She finally passed the afterbirth around 6:30 and now she is still softly crying as she has been. How long should it be between babies? I know with pups it is 45-1 hr between but then my dog went from 7 AM to 1 PM after the seventh put and then delivered two more pups. I will post a pic of the baby shortly!

Hurray!! You're a grandma! Can't wait to see the pics!

If there are more kids in there, I assume you could feel their outlines if she'll let you touch her stomach. Wonder if each kid's placenta is passed after each kid or en masse after the birth of all?

Congratulations. Look forward to those pics.

If 3 1/2 hour has passed and she's passed the afterbirth, there aren't any more.

Daisy and her stepsister were sold to me as "Nubians", hahaha! They do have some nubian in them because they all three have the airplane ears and are very, very vocal. The babies daddy is a pygmy that belongs to a neighbour about 2 miles from me. I noticed that the baby has two little wattles on each side of her neck. Is that a characteristic of any particular breed?
