Exclamation Help With GOATS PLEASE??

alrighty, well, my friend seems to have this thing for selecting the runts and weaklings for her show animals. and this year, she bought the absolute smallest show goat i think ive ever seen. i also think that he has something like..neurologically wrong with him, because when he walks, he's peg legged like a freakin pirate and his hocks bend forward. his front legs are fine, but his back legs are umm..quite different than ive ever seen any goat walk. i dont know if its because he is a baby or he just actually really has something wrong with him....but anyways, i took some pictures of him for her and told her that i would post them and see what some people thoguht, so here they are. she's sheared him since this and suprisingly he looks much better

If she insists on buying culls for show goats, what can you do about it? Not much.

He doesn't look bad enough to put down, but I agree that his joints aren't quite normal, either. His back is also nowhere near level... Oh well. I wouldn't use him for breeding, but he is only for meat anyway, right?

Could he have CAE? I don't know much at all being a newbie myself. But I thought that it affected the joints like arthritis? Would you eat a goat with CAE?

He does look runty for a meat goat competition. I don't know that I would want to spend alot on a kid that is bound for market, so perfect conformation wouldn't be at the top of my list, but a decent sized, well muscled goat would.

Baby goats generally wouldn't show swollen joints from CAE. It's safe to eat a goat with CAE and yes, that's exactly what I would do with a buck or wether carrying the disease.

what is CAE?

this poor girl has for some reason always been attracted to the runts and the weaklings and the little sick ones...

her freshman year she selected a umm..lets say somewaht decent goat, sick from day one, and died after six weeks.
she then bought a hog for the houston livestock show and rodeo and he got sick and died exactly a month after the goat.
following that she got a bird for christmas and well...umm..it died too.

but then she got on a streak where everythings starting to live....
but then she went and selected this..goat thing. lol..
he is the absolute sweetest thing ever and he would make THE BEST petting zoo goat. lol...but hes horrid for a meat goat.

when you actually get your hands on him, he does actually have a lot of muscle for being so small and he has a very wide chest....
but he seems to have the muscle in the strangest places.

he's sheared and looking much better now. his joints seem to be getting stronger and he's acting more like a goat

ill take more pictures soon and ya'll can see.
