Kidding... :)

I know the average pregnancy is 150 days, but how many of you goat people have goats that kid before that mark? I'm hoping, hoping, hoping that my two does, both whom are due on July 5th, will kid a day or two before. I leave for China the morning of the 5th, and I would LIKE to be here for the new ones!

How are they looking? Are they looking like it will be any day? I have them go between 145 to 159 days. I hope you are there with them.

Hi Dona--My ND had them on day 142 as a first-timer. I will have my fingers crossed that your does will kid before you go...

They're looking... Like they have the past month, lol. Well, except bigger, lol. I know the signs of impending birth, but none are determinable right now. They could go tomorrow for all I know. I know for sure that Daisy is one of those goats that looses her plug right as she begins labor, and acts a little bit 'differen't before kidding, so at least I know HER deal. She also should be developing her udder dramatically the day or day before kidding... She has almost NO udder development at all. She did last year, when she kidded for the first time. Boston is a first-timer, and I'm hoping everything goes well with her...

All of mine so far have freshened by day 147, no sooner than 143. Watch for the obvious nesting urges, blankly staring, and lack of eating. I had my first c-section this year and unfortunately lost both kids. What a learning experience though. Mama in labor but not dialating. We just could'not pull the babies out, bad position. The vet tried also. So save the goat or not? It's a BIG vet bill but may save lives.
I understand why it is so important for you tobe there. GOOD LUCK with your deliveries. Than after that you'll want to sttay and play with them.
