Teats, 2 vs. 4

I have Boer/Nubian does. I have a chance to get a % boer buck. One of the bucks has 2 teats, one has 4. My girls all have 2. Except for the doeling who has fish tail teats. I don't want to have any more problems with teats! I am geneticly challanged. If if put a 4 teated buck over 2 teated does, what would I come up with?

You would have a very good chance of having 4 teets. I know some people say it is no big deal but I have seen babies have a hard time and they latch on to the wrong ones. In shows (not that you are going to do them), your goat would be dismissed because it is considered, a deformity.

in boers you have alot of teat options even if you got the two teeted buck, the thing is alot of the extra teats on boers are functional so it really doesnt matter which they latch on to, if they dont work they can be taped up or removed not big deal really,
i would get the BEST quality buck regardless of the Teat situation as there will be alot more to gain than just a few extra teets

Thanks. I just found out that both of the 2 I was interested in have 4 teats. They do have a lesser quality one with only 2 teats. I am going to have to do some thinking on this. I want the best buck I can get.

teats are Fixable, pour genetic material Is ALOT harder, just focus on getting the BEST and worry about if their teats function later or not, like i said they are fixable,
