What kind of Grass Hay??

I was wondering what kind of Grass hay you use and why. We can only use grass because it is for Cashmere goats and they can not have alfalfa hay, it is too hot for them. I know some use clover and all different kinds.
Thanks for your imput

dont see any reason why alfalfa would be too hot for a cashmear, sence Cashmear is more of a hair condition than a breed and lots of goats have cashmear hair, alfalfa wouldnt affect them any differint than it would affect say an Angora or a wooly sheep,
grass hay can be fed to goats but its not what they like, and really isnt the "best" for them
if you feed grass hay make sure its as bright and green as possible and has as much leaf as possible not just stemy stuff,
also if you can find a good green buch that also has broadleaf weeds mixed in.
other wise ist just whats available in your area

My cashmeres eat orchard grass hay with about 30% clover. They each get a handful of alfalfa pellets a day as the regular evening treat, and I haven't seen any problems. I don't grain them cause the does would just get fat and the wethers can't have it.

Yes I could feed Alfalfa hay to them like the others but cashmere is so much finer, that little extra protein effects the micron count on the fiber. I didn't think it really did so one year I did feed alfalfa, because of that, that year my cashmere was poor quality, or it just didn't have the crimp and the fineness that I normally do.

thats enteresting, although it makes sence, if you look at it from the stand point that more nutrition an animal eats the more robust that animal is, which would make both its body and hair would thicker,
