my billy goat lost his baaahhh....

my billy goat (billy bob) lost his voice sometime yesterday.. he always greats me in the yard- - and talks to me before he gets to me - and yesterday when i came home from work - he opened his mouth and all he had was a whisper???
also in brushing out his winter coat - he is losing his hair.. it's growing in - but he is down to his skin - with a mohawk down his back.. can't spot any bugs... is a little scaley - dusted him two weeks ago and will dust again tonight???

wasn't worried until he lost his voice yesterday?? and it wasn't back this morning..

My little buck hollered all the way when we were moving, about an hour - the next day he sounded like he was a newborn again. Was your buck yelling yesterday? Is he eating, acting normal otherwise?

well, you know i have to work off the farm during the day - - to support my animal habit but he doesn't seem to be in any distress - i have 6 other goats he hangs out with and none of them seem stressed.. - or loss of voice or even hair like he has..

i've had him since february - and he's adjusted well... never has been noisy - but does talk to me when he sees me to let me know hes on his way - like a big dog - wants to be scratched and stand by me when i'm outside..

i had bought him to breed my nubian (Nanny) and planned on selling him - but he's so dang friendly its going to be hard..

My Saanen is shedding like mad too - hair coming out in handfuls when I stroke her, and the pink skin is quite visible. She never grew a woolly undercoat. A couple of the Nigerians have clumps of undercoat (cashmere! ) coming out but the rest don't seem to be losing much. They're all different.

Keep an eye on him - if he seems off his feed or not acting right, nose runny, take his temperature. Otherwise, I wouldn't worry too much - he may have been serenading his girls and lost his voice.
