There is a lot of cross breeding in the backgrounds of the breeds and once in a while a baby will be thrown that has some recessive characteristics.
BTW, I read in Pat Coleby's book "Natural Goat Care" that a doe who is iodine deficient, even w/o outward clinical symptoms, will often throw mostly bucklings, and the doelings that are born will be weak, or stillborn.
I believe that giving them free choice kelp helps to remedy that...
I don't know how true that info is, or if that is what happened in your case, just thought I'd toss it out there as food for thought.
