Question Lump on udder

My goat has a huge lump on her udder. Its at the back on the top about the size of a golf ball. Could it be something serious? Is there anything I should do?
Thanks
Tracy

is in sticking out or can you ust feel it inside? Inside is normal-- sticking out is not.

She is not worth paying a vet the price to test her. Could it be a tumor? Could I lance it open? Does CL happen on the udder? Sorry for all the questions.

Yes, it can occur on the udder - and you probably shouldn't lance it yourself. I certainly wouldn't. If she isn't worth the price to get tested, maybe you should think about putting her down. I wouldn't send her to the auction - that's just closing your eyes and passing your problem on to someone else.

Sorry, but yes, there are people that have contracted CL. I personally know of a lady that lives near me,that contracted the disease,by helping some lance abcesses in goats. She has had surgeries to remove lymph nodes that have enlarged and abcessed. And yes, biopsies have shown it to be CL. Her health has been greatly comprimised by this disease,so I don't blame you one bit for being very cautious about it.

But, in the same respect...I agree with the above, test the goats or buy from someone that has tested NEG for CL. Your health and family are not worth the risk.
