Chris-
With safeguard you triple the dose for goats.
I think you are the Chris I know. The boys you got from me should not need to be wormed agian till fall. unless they seem thin or you see worms -- in thier dung. they look like rice. but due to the fact as you do not have other animals and your land has not had other critters on it you should be good. When in dought take a fecal to the vets. I only do that if a goat is sick.. By the way how are they?

If you dosed at the label dosage, re-do it & use at least 3 times what the label says. So if your goat is 100 lbs., use what you would for a 300 lb. horse. A lot of people give 5 times the dose. If you do not use a larger amount, it is not going to work & they will build up resistance. Safeguard isn't working in a lot of areas either. I don't even use it anymore. Whatever you use, repeat in 10 days. Get a fecal ran & make sure it worked.

Hey, that is good to know. I just asked about that on another thread, but I guess I didn't ask the right question. I gave safegaurd at recomended dose a month ago and again yesterday. So in 10 days should I triple the dase?

Yes, triple the dose & you could even repeat it in another 10 days because the first time probably didn't do a thing.

yarddog,
Did you use the Safeguard for Goats or the one for horses? That will affect how much you give.

safeguard for goats is the same strength as the horse wormer-- SO you need to triple the does.. Chris should add that his goats are only what 8wks old. So worm them once more in 10 days.. triple the does. And you should be good till fall. Safeguard is still working in NY. Wendy is a long time e-mail friend of mine.. right wendy.. she has as many human kids as you Chris-- and me.... or maybe more--wink....
Chris-- we are still waiting for a closing date. the sellers are stalling it big time. and we have to make our first payment in a few wks. We are ready and going crazy waiting..

The safeguard for horses-- Is 10%
THe safeguard for goats is 10%
there for you still need to triple the does
when you give either to goats. Some people
do 5 times the weight amount.
