What's Going On Here!!

I have been bottle feeding 3 doelings and this morning one of them acts like her mouth want openup. What I mean is she has always slurped her bottle and made all sorts of noise when she drinks. This morning she didn't at all it was like she was drinking from a straw or something. This evening same thing. I have saw her eat and drink tho. Got any ideas about why she is doing this now? I do so hope she is ok. Could someone hve butted her to make her sore? I hope in the morning she is ok. Or I guess I'll have to find a Vet. Ideas anyone??

Does she have symptoms of sore mouth? If my memory isn't failing me..fiascofarm.com has some help for that.

Good luck. Something must be up for her to change.

Sounds like tetanus. Get her to a vet right away. The sooner you start treatment, the more likely you will be able to save her life.

Please tell me you already have a vet. You should always find a vet willing to work with the type of animal you are planning to get BEFORE you purchase the animal. You could be one of the unlucky few that doesn't have any vets willing to work with goats. (quite common)

When I was a nanny on a goat farm (no kidding-I took care of human kids and goaty kids alike) in college, we had a kid die of tetanus...it is AWFUL. Vaccinate your pregnant does and vaccinate your babies; it is worth it.

Wow, tadpole that is scary! Although a learning experience for all us newbies!
Did the vet say how long before she is out of the woods? 24 hrs.? 48 hrs?

My best wishes to you and your doeling!
