I was wondering the samething after I got that book. Also BORAX? I believe. Is that just the stuff you find in the soap isle at your local store? I can't believe that is good for them.

I had the same questions on dolomitic lime and did web searches. Almost all applications of this product appear to be agricultural.

Dolomitic Lime
Dolomitic lime is used as a flux and slag conditioner in steelmaking and has environmental applications in soil stabilization and wastewater treatment.

BUT! I did find one for food use...for humans...and it is not clear if this is dolomitic or not...

Borax is Boric acid, a known poison.

Perhaps Sweet Goats, you meant Boron, which is a trace mineral, and not borax?

No,Jillis, I have heard of folks using borax( like the kind you add to soap) for their animals. When I raised homing pigeons, there were folks I spoke with who would add just a bit of it to the water for parasite control. I preferred to use garlic and diatomaceous earth.
Borax is a poison, but I guess it can be used in small amounts. I would be sure to get some concrete info. on using stuff like that before putting any amount in the goats' food or water.
