Its called Dr. Naylors Blu-Kote
Its called the above. Bad news
Foals doing bad. Vet gave antibiotics Last night for a cord infection. Now foal is not doing well. I asked my aunt to fight for her and to make the vet give her probias and colostrum. She had cleaned the cord with iodine. Foal is 2 wks. I know I should be on the equine board, but I have goats and I read the posts of one of the members getting blue with the naval antiseptic, so I came here first. Any way,
I am really distrought!!! I believe the infection may be fungal or viral. If it were bacterial, the antibiotics would have cured it. But instead it has spread, now it is systemic. A blood infection. I want to scream at the vet. But my aunt is the boss and its her foal. Mothers been on fastrack for years so the foal had a good supply of probias whils nursing. I just feel the antibiotics killed off all the good stuff, and shes too little to fight it on her own. She needs big doses of probiotics and lots of colostrum to recover. Am I wrong to want to fight this? I told my aunt this, but to her I will always be weird because I believe in herbals and whole foods and probiotics and stuff. Thanks for letting me vent Theresa
