I can't believe what happened this weekend.

My Doe, who had rejected her smallest kid, started letting her nurse saturday. I gave this kid a bottle for 3 1/2 days. She gained weight, looked good, so saturday morning, I let her out in the goat pen (after a bottle.) She played with her siblings, running, jumping, having a good old time. DH and I were finishing the pig pen, as our feeder pigs would be there that afternoon, so we were nearby, watching. The kid (named Monkey by DD) took a bottle at noon eagerly and willingly. But at 5, she didn't want her bottle, and her tummy was full. I put her down, stayed in the pen watching the kids play. She ran over to her momma and got a drink.

The doe, who last tuesday, picked this kid up and tossed her, just smelled her, and let her nurse. It was like she decided she COULD take care of all 4. I went out 4-6 times yesterday, always with a bottle, just in case, but...well, I was rejected. I've sat out there for hours, never saw any signs that the doe was still rejecting this kid, nor any other kid. I'm just amazed, and sad. I really got attached to Miss Monkey in the 3 days she was mine. And now, she doesn't want me any more.

Glad to hear that she has been accepted, and sorry that she is now rejecting you, if you spend a lot of time with her she will still like you though, we have done so with several babies, just play with them and let them jump on your lap, and htey will turn out just fine. Good Luck with her and her siblings. Bye.
