question about CDT and young kid

Hello, I just purchased a mini mancha doe and her 3 week old doeling. Mom did NOT have a CDT shot for about a year, I just gave her one today. Thus I'm wondering how soon can I give the little one a shot? Valuable little girl and don't want anything to happen to her. I'm worried about the tetanus part mostly, could I give her a tetanus anti-toxin shot to cover her for a month?

Also, should ask this too, my other two doelings, who are 14 weeks I gave a CDT shot to 2-26 and stupid, stupid me forgot to write the booster reminder on the March page of calendar and just looked yesterday and saw I'm late. I did give them one today, would a 3rd be a good idea in 3 weeks? Or should this suffice?

I would go ahead & give the 3 week old her CD/T shot & then give her a booster in 3 weeks. A third booster would be OK to do on all of them if you want. A lot of people give the shot 3 times & then once a year after that. It wouldn't hurt to give the mom another shot if you are not sure when she had her last one.

I agree with Wendy. When we had our NDG doeling disbudded at the vets, they also gave her a CDT shot. Said that is when they always give the first injection. The kid was 3 weeks old by the way. That was several weeks ago and she did fine.

Good luck with that beautiful mini-mancha baby.
