Goat Questions

Ok this is to anyone that has been raising goats for a long while and knows the 100% answer to this.

Question is I was reading about mini-nubians ok how do you get them started?
Do you breed 2 types of goats together or what?
How many of you cross breed certain goats?

Like Alpine with a boer or Alpine with a Nubian

Thanks for all the help..

You breed a Nigerian Dwarf buck to a Nubian doe.

Nigerian Dwarf buck to a Nubian doe

And be sure the buck is the smaller goat used in breeding a mini-nubian. Do not breed a nubian buck to a nigerian doe. Anytime you use a large breed buck on a smaller doe, the doe can have all sorts of complications possibly during pregnancy, but especially during delivery. The babies may be too large for her to kid, and you could lose both mom and babies.

I agree with the small buck/larger doe statement. Another popular cross which I plan to get into is called a Kinder, which is a cross of a pygmy BUCK to a nubian DOE. They are desireable in that they are supposed to be as good of milkers as thier counterparts, have large "litters" of kids (I belive the average is 3, but more is not uncommon) a manageable size, and have some of the best milk.
