Buckling with crusty eye

I have a 6 day old buckling that has one eye that gets the yellow crusties. He is otherwise very healthy, happy, playful, good appitite, etc. There are no other symptoms, no coughing, sneezing, or discharge of any other kind.

Would it be beneficial to give him a shot of penicillin? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Clean the crusties off his eye and put some Terramycin eye ointment in it twice a day. He shouldn't need any antibiotic shots since he is otherwise healthy.

Do what Goatkid said and then make sure that he dosen't have an eyelid curling into the eye -sometimes they are hard to detect. - Mustly check the bottom lid.

Great! Thanks for the advice. I am sure that saved atleast a $60 vet fee : ) I will check that eyelid, too!

Thanks a bunch!
