Question Clipper purchase

We are ready to buy our own clippers to trim the goats for the fair this year. I have a chance to buy a Wahl Lister Star Clipper for $135.00 total with shipping. I know they usually go for a lot more than this, but are these good clippers for goats or are they something of lesser quality I should stay clear of. Any advice would be appreiciated. Thanks!

I'm most interested in this thread as I've previously had used, cheaper clippers and I'm saving up to buy a decent one. What all does everyone use and what would be the best buy for under $150? I have herd of about 12 nigerians. What are the features to look for?

I had a Double K cable driven clipper for several years to clip my miniature horses. While they clipped like a dream, the cable was very cumbersome. A friend of mine, who also has mini horses, had Oster Power Pro cordless clippers and they were just as powerful as the Double K's but so much easier to handle. They come with 2 batteries so that one can charge while clippiing with the other. I sold my Double K's and bought the Power Pro's and I love them.
Now I have never clipped a goat with them but they went through my mini horses' coat like a hot knife through butter. (sharp blades are always a factor of course.) Valley Vet Supply sells them most reasonably priced.

I've got Oster A5s, and I would LOVE to have the Lister Star clippers. I've been drooling over them for years, just haven't seen my way clear to spending $300-$400 on clippers. At $135, I'd snap those up so fast, you'd never see 'em go. Wanna put me in contact if you decide against them?

I use the Oster A5 for most of my clipping. I bought a Wahl animal clipper with the adjustable blade from a thrift store for only 99 cents! I love it. This I use for clipping the udder and around the hooves. What I like about the A5 is that the blades are removable. I like to use a 10 blade for the lower legs, head and tail and a 5 or 7 for the body. I use either a 30 or my Wahl at the closest setting for the udder. My friend also has a Clipmaster I sometimes borrow for the bodies as it is a wide clipper and I can do a large goat faster with it.

I have a pair of Oster Clipmasters and I love them!!! I can do a body clip on a goat in about 6-8 minutes Then I use my A5's on legs and heads with a #10 blade and then use a #40 on udders.
