Weight of round bales

I know it varies, but what can I plan on the weight of a 4x5 bale of mixed grass hay.

If it is a good tight bale about 700# If it is a loose bale probably around 600. When you put it out make sure it is not in an area where it will roll. I would suggest putting stock panels around it with T posts at the corners...with just a few goats they will waste more than they eat if you don't.

Around here it can vary greatly. Even though the size can look the same, bales are NOT the same weight, depending on how tightly they are baled and what kind/texture, or even how they've been dried. I've had super 900 pound bales and others much much lighter that I'm able to move myself. So you do have to ask weight if you want to get the most for your dollar.
