More Labor Questions

Hello everyone. I keep asking if what my do is doing is normal. I think I probably should be asking what to look for if something IS going wrong. I'm pretty sure things are normal. This morning she is doing alot of pawing at the ground, bleating, and everytime I go in to check on her, she jumps up on the door! Don't know if that means she's happy to see me or if she wants out! She has stringy goo coming out and her vulva is starting to pooch out and open a bit. Eating hay still, carrots if I bring them out for a treat, and rumen is working nicely. How can you tell if they are having contractions? She does some wierd stuff, but nothing I would consider having a contraction. When she lays down, every now and then, she'll move her back feet as though she is trying to get up or re-adjust to get comfortable. Thanks again for any and all help!!

Yes, she is in labor. By greeting you like she is and complaining, she's probably wanting you to stay with her and stop running off! It is normal to "paw" the ground and make a nice clean spot to lay down, also to get up and down and wriggle about like she is. She's probably trying to reposition a kid. If I were you, I'd stay with her and watch for a presentation. She may need a little help with positioning. Do you have everything ready?

I would still worry that she is having trouble, that kids are not in the right position. I only let my goat go one for about a hour, up and down swinging legs. You can tell she is trying to repostion the kids. Can you go in a check if it is head and front feet?
