need help with goat lingo

I am new to goats, I am thinking of raising 1 boer or boer cross for meat. Can someone explain what some of these mean? kid, buck, doe, mutton, nannies, billies, yearlings. I know some of them are kinda self explanitory. Thanks, Sincerely, Mike

There is a kid, which is a young baby like goat. There are does who are the female goats. You will also hear the term doelings which I believe is a young doe younger that a year. There is a yearling buck or doe who is a year or so old. Buck is a male. Billie is a male. Nannie is a female. Mutton is sheep I belive me and someone correct me if I'm wrong, but nothing to do with goats.

Welcome, you came too the right place too learn about goats-lots of informed people here!
kid-baby goat, under a year..buck-intact male goat..doe-female goat..mutton-meat from a sheep(pretty nasty stuff-not like lamb at all) nannie-slang for female goat (we would prefer you use doe! ) billie-slang for buck..same applies! Ha!! Yearling-has the first two milk teeth out and permanent teeth taking their place..too freshen-give birth, come into a fresh milk supply-kidding-too have baby goats...wether-castrated buck or ram..what else guys?
