Any links to goat breeds and pics?

Would anyone here happen to have any good links to the different kinds of goat breeds, information on them, with pictures? Although I still haven't bought any goats, I want to make sure I'm totally informed about them, and would like to start thinking about what breed would be best. That would also help me decide other issues like fencing, whether they can cope with cold winters, etc.

Thanks again!

Depending on what type of goat you are looking for, there are many different websites that would be informational for you.

If you are looking for a dairy goat- a goat that is bred to give large quanities of milk, then I would suggest that you go to the American Dairy Goat Association's website.
Hee is one of their webpages that would be very useful for you http://adga.org/facts.htm

Here is another of their webpages that gives you info on the certain breeds of dairy goats http://adga.org/breedstandards.html

If you are looking into meat goats - goats that are bred for large quaities of meat, then I suggest you go to the American Meat Goat Association, or just go to the American Boer goat Association as Boer goats are the leading breed of meat goats in this country.

If you are looking into Pygmy goats- these goats are meant to be pets, they ARE NOT bred for meat or milk, then I suggest that you look up the National Pygmy Goat Association.

I have to put my two cents in here. I vote for the dairy type breeds over the meat and pygmies. They just are SO much more loving and friendly in my experiences with goats.

that Oklahoma website has an extensive list. I don't have a lot of problems with our boers. We use the high fence with 2x4" holes. In 4x4 fence holes, they get their heads stuck. I like electric, but when it is off, they just know, and out they go. That is from a boer standpoint. We don't have any real experience with anything else.
