Exclamation Is my GOAT sick???!!!

Sorry I am new to goats and feel really silly for asking but one of my goats is acting funny today!

I will tell you everything I know.........She is 3 yrs old, has been grazing on pasture/woods, has had a little sweet feed as treat, has good dry grass hay, fresh water, etc.

She is not wanting to eat today (tried to bribe her with sweet feed and she didn't want anything to do with it!) .
She is quieter then normal.
I can't tell if she is bloated looking because she has always looked fat to me , she is not supposed to be pregnant. I felt her tummy and it didn't feel firm and I could hear it gurgle.
She is acting funny with her mouth, almost like she has something stuck in there but I looked and didn't see anything.
I let them out of their inside pen today to go graze and she just stood by a tree branch and rubbed on it.
She is keeping her ears pinned back a lot.

I may just be worrying about things that don't exist but like I said I am new to goats and I hate to see her unhappy.

Oh! Do you think maybe she could be depressed?? Do goats get depressed?? I have had her for a week now and she came from a place where she had an outside pen(where they slept and ate) and then was let out to graze some. I keep her (with other goats) in the barn but they get out to graze for a couple hours a day (I don't have a outside pen so I let them loose and have to watch them). So do you think maybe she doesn't like her living arangment??

Please, if you have any ideas let me know!! I am very worried!

Thank you!

She does have milk but she is still weaning a 7 mth old doe (I got her with her momma) that still tries to suckle a little. I figure that is why she has milk. I don't have the slightest clue what her rear-end is supposed to look like! I did make sure that she is not having runny poo. Think maybe she is coming in heat and just being moody??

Person I bought her from said billy did break into pen one time but were pretty sure he didn't get to any of the does. Don't know when that happened though. But I didn't figure with her having a 7mth old she could be kidding again??

Also maybe another possibility is that she is sad......We have another goat that is very pushy with her and doesn't want her to eat or even stand by her. Maybe she is sad because she was queen of her pen at her old home (she was in a pen with a bunch of pygmys and she is an alpine!) We are considering getting rid of the other goat because she just seems too mean.

Anyway.....anymore ideas will be much appreciated.

goat off

For any goat who does not run to thier feed --give 3cc of fortifed B-complex-SQ. twice a day.. Baking soda would not hurt.
Probios could not hurt either.

We have had many goat kid-- they do not act off at all-- they eat and act happy.

Goat are pack animals and need a friend of their kind.

I'm not sure what you mean by something up with her mouth. Maybe that needs to be investigated. Maybe she's not eating because of some obstruction or tooth problem or something else? I agree w/Liz on a general note w/ B complex. It's a great pick me up and kicks in the rumen. It can't hurt. Did you take her temp? That's the place to start.

I don't know, when our goats are ready to give birth they do not eat, they do not even graze! Also we had a goat, Toria, that kept letting her 6 month old baby suckle till the day that Toria gave birth again, but we KNEW she was pregnant anyway, she was BIG BIG.

The first thing I would do is offer some baking soda,She may have an upset tummy. The baking soda is like us taking a TUMS.Is she grinding her teeth?,they do this when they dont feel good. The vitamin B will give her an appetite. If you dont have any you can give her people vitamin B1 tablets.I buy them at the Dollar store and put them in their grain or sometimes they eat them out of my hand.

If she would be in labor she will stand off by herself and she may rub against a barn wall or a tree.she will laydown and get up and laydown again trying to get comfortable she may look puffy swollen back there, she will hold her tail straight out and not eat.I would lock her in a stall away from every body else give her a safe place to kid or if she is sick she inst gonna want to be pushed around by anyone else. You can watch her better.
If you can get to a feed store you need to get some Proibos to give her it will also help get her to eat again ,offer her some yogurt if she needs it she will eat it on her own. Remember goats live to eat. When they stop eating thats a sign somthing is not right.
