rectovaginal fistula

Has anyone ever had a goat with rectovaginal fistula? Have you been able to correct it with surgery? Was it a difficult process and expensive? How about teaching colleges such as Ohio State or Cornell?

i googled for this and it looks like this is a genetic problem. i don't know what your goal is for this little doe but i think i wouldn't bother and for me she would go for meat.

Rectovaginal fistula is a fistulous tract that connects the vagina and rectum and usually is seen in conjunction with imperforate anus. Passage of feces through the vulva or signs of colonic obstruction are suggestive. Diagnosis may be confirmed by barium enema, which outlines the extension of the defect into the vagina. Identification of the fistula, surgical correction, and reestablishment of the normal anatomic structures are imperative. Prognosis is usually guarded. Complications are common and include fecal and urinary incontinence.

Sounds like a few too many bucks and does and too few billys and nannies to me. Sorry, seriously, what could you do. Surgery to fashion a rectum? Give her a colostomy bag? As Dr. Lee likes to say, "something wong here".
