Argh-Noisy Does in Heat

Can anyone help? I recently banded my two bucklings (they are currently separated from the herd) and now a doe and her doeling are in heat. The problem is that because the boys are separated temporarily the does are calling to the bucks....all night long! I figured they'd give it a rest at night or something. The bucklings haven't dropped their testis yet so I don't wanna put them together since they might get hurt. I have another recently wethered male who keeps mounting them and fighting for domination.

How long will this last? It started at least this am when I woke up and is still going on at 4 am! (yeah, admittedly, I took a hose to the females cause they are really ----ing me off right now-normally I am not that cruel)

Will this happened every year after the boys are fixed an back in with the females or will they be more quiet when no one calls back to them? This is totally new around here and not very popular!

yes, if goats are in heat they will call to the bucks. usually they will call for a short time, maybe 3 days at most. usually more around two days. it also depends on how close the bucks are. if they are far away, they will yell thier heads off. my buck is really close to my girls, and they usually only make the noises in thier throat, the ones that sound like they are swallowing funny.

also, how did you band bucklings with thier testes not decended? or are you talking about different bucklings? you confused me! lol

Good luck

Sorry, for the confusion, I meant their testis falling off...dropping as to the ground. They have quieted down slightly and only go through episodes of noise right now. I have noticed that another one went into heat, but luckily she is a quiet one.

You know, I am glad that you said something about the testis decending and then banding them....all along I have been feeling bad that I didn't do it earlier when they were very small, but you make a point, how could I have done it any earlier if their testis haven't decended. Thanks for making me feel better!

Your girls are going to come into heat and yell every three weeks until they're bred. The boys will yell back until every doe is bred. This will happen every year, and is a good argument, IMHO, for breeding most or all of your girls early in the season.
