Only minis now..

Started out with big horses, a mini horse and a mini donkey.
Our big horses left on Saturday so we only have the mini horse and mini donkey now. We didn't ride the big horses much and with no pasture at all we spent a lot on hay.

Our mini donkey is mainly here to keep an eye on our goats but we have been having a blast driving the mini horse!

How much weight can a little guy like that pull?

Looks like fun. Maybe I can teach my dog to drive as a horse substitute.

I'm not sure how much they can pull actually. I was kind of hoping someone else might answer. Midnight is on the bigger side..she is 37 inches.
These pictures are on the road right in front of our house. I usually drive and one of the kids ride with me. With one kid and I we probably weigh between 200 and 250 plus the cart. She seems to pull that with no problem at all.
I have given my husband a ride but it was just to see what it was like, I wouldn't ask her to pull both of us for long. Hubby just doesn't want to drive..now that my youngest son can drive her he is the one who gives hubby rides.
I can't wait to take her out by myself to some different places.

If you are driving in a hilly area...
found, at least with the mini's have had, they can only pull their weight, without stress or straining hard.
Maggie, she is running 230lbs right now and that is what she can pull, driving were we do.

Now on the flat, she can pull a little more. Maggie is 33 1/2" tall.
I had a beautiful Country Road Cart that we just loved, it was 100lbs, + my weight... she was at the max she could pull in the hills, and some hills she had to canter up, to make it up them. On the Flat, could give cart rides.
Had to sell the CRC before the move.... so I now have a HyperBike. She loves it,,, we can speed around and its super easy for her to pull. But it is only good for one person.

Bigger mini's can normally pull more of course. Sounds like your mini, is going fine with what you are doing.

Thanks, good things to know. I am afraid of hills. We have a big hill which you can see the bottom of in some of the pictures. I was thinking when we go out more I will have to walk beside her to get up them, we have a lot of big hills around here.
I REALLY want a HyperBike!! We have a lot of 4 wheeler trails around here that I'm afraid I might flip the EZ entry cart on but I think she would be fine with just the HyperBike.
Thank you for answering!!

With a good padded breeching... they should be able to make it down the hills, if they have learned how to "hold back" the cart.

One reason I like the Hyperbike so much... very stable on the trails, specially the really rough ones.

Have to admit, the older I get the more I hate motorized anything around horses.
My horse's don't normally care, but most of the drivers are just rude.
Stay safe!!
