I used Chaffehay for a period of time for my goats. It really wasn't great for the goats and I certainly wouldn't recommend it for horses. There is an awful lot of molasses in it and it's pretty rich. I was also dismayed at the number of bad bags I would get. If a bag even has a pin prick of a hole it will go bad quickly (mold) and I was running in to 1 out of about 10 bags being bad (direct shipped from the company, carefully unloaded and stored in an area where no animals had access). I can imagine colic being an issue with using this stuff for horses.
Even for my goats I finally gave up on it and went to alfalfa pellets (SO much cheaper! and SO much better for them!).
