dh, his brother and the guy they 'use' as their father (all extremely good judges of horses) all looked her over good, and deemed her too good to leave! and she looks unbelievably like a mare we had when first married so that factored in too. he had planned on getting me an appy colt later this summer, but when this one showed up....
dh has been a real gem for a while now--we've most certainly had our issues but we're working on it. he was so happy to give me this filly! it was one of the sweetest gestures he's ever done! gave me a big kiss and said we started out with a mare like this, seemed fitting for our 20th. awwww!!
yesterday I went into her pen and I believe someone has worked with her, she was just fine with picking up her feet (but yet needs a trim in the worst way?) and after a short fit, was leading all over the yard. of course she's pretty wild about it yet, but that's the fun of a baby!! it only took a short time for her to be fine with me rubbing alllll over her body. so either she's a very big exception or someone has done some work with her.
and I believe I will call her Journey.
