She's grulla, a very pretty one, looks like she might be sabino too.

I went to the website for the colt and looked at the color gene testing results ... homozygous for black and dun, negative cream and I don't see any silver horses in their herd at all, though they do show one champagne mare. The silver gene is very rare in the QH breed, though there are a few.

Grulla.

Grulla is dilution factor on brown. Dilution on black gives you buckskin. Dilution of bay gives you a red dun. I don't see any indication of sabina, which is roan with white in the overo spotting locations , but with no clear edges to the spotting. This one just has a bald face.

No, grulla is the dun factor expressed on a black horse. A dilute (cream) on a bay produces buckskin. Dilute (cream) on a chestnut produces palomino. Dun is dun not an expression of a cream dilute.

Sabino is high white irregular socks/stockings, bald face (with or without blue eyes) and/or white belly spots.

Dun is a dilute. There are several dilutes besides the cream dilute, dun is one of them, also champagne and a new one that has been identified they call pearl.

The old timers would have called it a "steeldust".

Sorry, but steel dust is red. It is the color of rust.

[[[[.......Sabino is high white irregular socks/stockings, bald face (with or without blue eyes) and/or white belly spots.......]]]]]

That is incorrect. A horse with high white socks, bald face, and a clear belly spot would be an overo.

Sabina has blurred edges to the belly spots and high white stocking. There is no defined edge to the spots or the top of the stockings. Blend of color and white is roan.

I had a TB/Clyesdale gelding with high white, lacy stockings and he was a sabino. Not an overo.

Sorry, but you must be thinking of dust from rusted steel. Every reference to steeldust that I've ever seen refers to a steel grey color.
