Fitting Saddles :P

As you know I ride Dyfra in a Sensation Hybrid, love that treeless saddle. It also fits her perfect!

Stjarna however, has withers and a bit of an A frame when she is in shape.
To use the Sensation on her, I am using 1" inserts in the saddle pad to keep me off her spine. This is ok for short rides and she really seems to like the saddle. But I want to make sure I don't cause any problems on really long rides.
I have a very nice new generation Wintec Pro Dressage with Countour blocks which I love, super comfy but it no longer quite fits her right. Now is for sale is anyone is interested.

She changes shape often on me, is driving me silly.
So before I can do longer rides,,, I need to find a treed saddle that I can adjust as she changes shape.

A friend told me about this saddle... looks promising, so I put an order in for one. Keep your fingers crossed!

Really wanted a JR special Icelandic horse saddle but at $3,000+, it isn't going to happen.

Looks very interesting. Let us know how it works and what the leather quality is like. I bet you can't wait to get it!

I went thru similar to what you're having. And it really surprised me. With all the equines I've ridden - horses, mules, donkeys, steer - only one had a body that kept changing as he grew up. My Mammoth jack. One does get tired of getting different saddles!

The Natural Ride Bareback solved my problem and I've been riding it for over 20 years. It's fit high, low, no withered critters. I've had no desire to go back to a saddle.

Hope your new saddle works out for you.

No way I would use a Natural ride on her, too much spine. Would end up with an unsound horse.

Thanks! And will do....
Will be hard to wait the 4 to 6 weeks to get it.
Is very hard to find saddles short enough for an Icelandic's back and be able to adjust to her ever changing body.
Am keeping my fingers crossed!!
