A rescue

Tiny the Belgian (not mine) escaped the paddock yesterday and found his way into a swamp where he was stuck up to his neck.

With the help of many volunteers and my awesome, wonderful equine vet/friend Denise (the one who had the bad accident last summer if you remember), a tractor and an improvised sled, they got Tiny out of the swamp and into the barn where he is on his feet and recovering wonderfully this morning.

Denise kindly donated her services on this mission, you can just see her peeking out in the pic, she is sitting on the sled holding Tiny's neck and head.

Glad he could be rescued with little to no ill effects. Hopefully that will curb his adventursome side for a little while.

Scary ... really scary. Good thing there were people available that knew what they were doing.

God bless the horse that allows himself to be helped and those who help them.

I think he was too exhausted by that point to put up a struggle.

I know when they got him to the barn it took a while to get him on his feet, I'm sure he was given electrolytes and fluids etc. The whole event from finding him, getting him out, to the barn and on his feet took many hours.

Poor boy, glad they found him and save him in time. I hope he has a speedy recovery.

Not me Maddie, though I did chastise Denise for not calling me to help I would have been on my way immediately.

Remember, he's a Belgian, so he is red under that mud. Perhaps he was jealous of the Percherons' color
