Sounds like fun! I happened to go riding at Mammoth Cave today with a friend, had a blast. We didn't start at the horse camp, we parked at another trailhead. Have you been riding at Mammoth Cave and if so what trails do you like?

Today was only the third time I've been there. We started out on the Collie Ridge trail and branched off of it. The Collie Ridge trail is more like a road instead of a trail, a gravel road at that. The trail we branched off of was an actual dirt trail. The Collie Ridge trail dead ends and is about 8 miles if you go to the end and back. There are several trails that branch off of it,but I haven't ridden on all of them yet. The Horse Camp that you mentioned is fairly new. I've heard good things about it, but never been there. I did ride a trail there, before the camp was built. It was fairly rocky, but the horses didn't seem to have problems, nobody came up lame.

I don't know where you're at in TN, but if you get a chance try Long C trails in Westmoreland, TN, they're awesome and such nice people.

Long c trails is the best. I love it there. I used to go quite a bit but because of family stuff haven't been there much in the past few years. Jack is an awsome guy. First time I went they had just opened and it sure was rustic.
I have only been there once since we got lost on a back trail that was supposed to be out of service. LOl I ended up calling Jack that we were lost and it was getting dark and we were stuck on a huge hill..and if we didnt get out soon we would be spending the night.
sux to have no sense of direction.
I may try a sneak away weekend soon. I like to rent the little cabin and ride and relax. I was told if i moved the cows around I wouldn't be able to play there anymore...
the only thing i don't like about lct is granny trail pretty much need shoes on. Nexttime you are riding there keep your eyes open for ez boots. I lost 1 front and 1 back with in about 30 minutes:>)

LL, I agree Jack is an awesome guy! The place has really been upgraded the last year or two. They finished their "hotel" and they have a restaurant open on the weekends now. It would be hard to get lost on the trails now since they've updated them. There are consecutive numbers about every 100 ft so you can't get lost, supposedly you can use a gps to get around if you punch in the numbers. I just follow the colored dots on the trees...technology is way overrated in my book!

numers?? Dots?? Man they have really upgraded. It's close to me..about 30 minutes. There are a ton of times I could wonder over for the day but with no one to ride with and having no sense of direction I have been hesitant to go get lost by myself:>)
But if they have DOTS :>)
It's gorgeous country and some reall fun riding.
