The Simco is FINALLY done, and I restored it! Pics...

I restored it from the inside out; absolutely deep conditioned every where, hand tooling all detailed by hand with a small electric toothbrush, treated and shined the antique silver and fittings, and had my own special-ordered New Zealand Sheepskin fleece stitched to the underside by my saddler. I re-stained the buck-stitching white, and re-napped the suede seat.
I don't know what to do with it! I'm "supposed" to sell it, but now I'm intimately involved with every square inch of it, lol, so it will be hard to part with!

It is the single most comfortable western saddle I have ever sat in! In almost makes me want to go out and find a horse to fit IT, ha ha! <crazy talk...craaaaazy talk......>

Jill have you ever rode in a tucker?
I happened on one...did a trade and my butt just loves it. I actually got the saddle and the mare the kid's are riding now on 2 different trades.
Between the saddle and gaited horses ......riding is actually wonderful on my back. (osteoarthritis. osteoporosis, scoliosis..a dang mess)LOL
OH and i think finding a horse to fit the saddle is a fine idea:>) ccrrrrrrazzzy is good

Nope, never tried a real Tucker, but the higher-quality knock-offs are pretty dern comfy! My mom's physical therapist said riding would be very good for her back, also, after she broke all the ribs on one side right at the spine from a car accident; something about the pelvis taking weight differently and her legs not pressing up into her torso....or some-such PT talk, lol...

Looks really nice. I got a cheap Simco. I think you've finally motivated me to get off my batootie and get it cleaned up and conditioned.

That is SWEET! Every time I see a saddle for sale on CL I think of you Jill! So, I think getting a horse to fit is a fine idea!

Yah know, I don't really know! I'm terrified of going out to try it on Tony for the obvious reason: SCA (Saddle Collectors Anonymous).
It's vintage, and the tree is hand made/rawhide covered, so it was designed to fit a lady's horse from "way back when"... It won't be comparable to either a FQHB or Semi-QHB of the modern Ralide persuasion.... it's going to be one of those trail-and-error type fits; it's gonna fit "some type" of horse like a glove...I just gotta figure out what type that is...lemme go stare at it with my "fitting eyes" some more.....
