Good thing I'd already 'downsized' breeding plans for the year

Oops! The small (15.1/ 15.2 h) warmblood mare by Contucci that another 'adopted grand daughter' has been showing through her high school years as a successful open hunter is coming back to be a broodmare while Kate gets through college.

ISR approved so her foals should/will be eligible for RPSI or ISR sportpony ... and this is another that a filly will stay in my "retirement broodmare herd".

Now I get to pick a stallion!

She's a pretty little thing.

She's petite ... her rider is petite. When they first started showing, when Kate was just 14 they were showing in adult amateur ... and placing well in good sized classes. Mare has the long, fluid warmblood striding, had no difficulty with the pacing and fences. It was only when they were in the ring for lineup would the judges realize just how *small* this pair actually were ... and often comment.

She's nice! Who do you have in mind to breed her to?

I'm partial to Popeye who's standing at Hilltop right now. Hans Bockholt bred him, and his very well-rounded. http://www.hilltopfarminc.com/stallion_popeye.html

You didn't say if you wanted to stay small or go larger, lol, so I picked a stallion who's right at 14.2HH.....

Hmmm ... let's see ... where do I start?

I don't want anything bigger than she is and I'd prefer smaller.

Same size or slightly smaller: My own dressage-bred Connemara, Blarney, at 14.2; Avalon's RPSI approved black warmblood-x, Belefonte, at 14.2; Popeye, at 14.2

Smaller: Any one of several Section B Welsh pony stallions

I will have her for two and possibly three foals ... hoping to get at least one "keeper" filly that can be presented for RPSI approval.
