The Apps in TN

Sorry for the delay, with that many white horses, well, your eyes tend to cross when trying to sort them out.
While people do need to fill out an application (and make note on it that this if for the appaloosas) this is just to gather contact information. There will be no adoption fee charged and no facility checks will be done. This is a placement for someone, not a HHT adoption.
Please let me know if you have any questions and if a horse you may be interested in isn't shown, check back later today or tomorrow. I have people out taking more picture so we can be SURE which horse is which.

Thanks.

Thanks, Shari. We have 24 'spoken for' but that doesn't count until we see the trailer pull in to pick them up

No wonder you have had trouble sorting them! So many light colored horses in one place.

Sure hope you find good homes for them.

Can you tell us any more about why they came to need placement?

I don't suppose you noticed any of them not trotting? That #4 is a cutie, but I am holding out for a shuffler

Mtnwmn- nope. None shuffle that I saw, pretty athletic bunch, though.
Farmergirl- sure. The husband was the breeder and when he passed six years ago, the horses were left to fend for themselves. They're on his property, of course, but haven't been fooled with in six years (for the older horses) and never handled for the younger ones. They're curious and friendly, though. A few were too friendly and we had a lot of nose shots, lol.

I could afford to take on a pregnant mare and a filly or 2. But I am in Western New York. If someone wanted to donate to drive them here. I put my truck up for the winter, I dont want it to rust. I have double the hay I would need for this winter put up. I have 75 acres of lush green for summer grazing, no barbed wire, baby safe fields and a round pen. We have 2 horses that are ridden a lot. So the barn is available...too bad I'm up here..

Ya, its a shame the horse market is so flooded. Perfect horses go through the auctions and no one wants them for free. My plan is still to find a place in TN. What have you temps been lately? I am so not looking forward to blistery cold and snow, wind.... brrrrrr...

So about the horses, this guy dies and they apparently had a stallion and they just let them run wild, in the field for years huh? wow thats weird...I'm glad its over.

The wife has hoarding issues and never went into the field with the horses and apparently when he died... that was it. Lord knows how many died in the last 6 years. We were told that 15-20 died around foaling time this year. So the ones left are truely hardy critters. Feet don't look bad and they're sure not hurtin' for weight!

In the 70s for the past few days. Supposed to drop to the fifties today, forty at night. I think the lowest it's supposed to be at night for the next week or so is low thirties.

Do you think #22 could make a trip to central Missouri. Do you know if she is halter broke, broke to lead or load? Very pretty mare. Call me if you get time. 573-280-1331 Carla

I'm sure she could, as long as it was a quick trip as we have no idea how close these mares are to foaling. As far as handling, I'm going back out first Friday in December and i'll see what I can figure out at that point. Some of the horses are/will be gone by then, so the 'families' will have regrouped and they'll hopefully be more used to us by then.

Can you send me a private email about which ones are still available? The web site has some that say "placed" and some that have an "X" so I wasn't sure. I was not able to open the adoption form.

I was raised literally by an appy pony! She was the best horse ever. I lost my last appy at age 26 last winter. I'd had her 20 yrs. Recently have been breeding morgans, but have gotten away from breeding due to econ & too busy. I lost my riding buddy (morgan mare) to colic a couple months ago.

I would love to have another appy possibly to work into a trail horse. Do you know if any of the adult mares are at least halter broke? Also, the ones listed as blind...are they totally blind, is it moon blindness or injury?? My 1st appy went blind to moon blindness so I'm familiar with that.

Most of the totally blind horses have been put down. We felt that moving them to a new location this late in the game would not be in their best interest.
I'd say most of the adult mares are halter broke- it's only in the last six years that they've been left alone.

I'm sorry you lost your riding buddy.

Other than what's marked on the site, 22, 24, 4 & 6 have been taken.

The horses are in Blount Co, TN. The horses are only being caught as the adopters show up for pick up or if there is a medical need, so unless a particular horse has been caught (they're loose on 140 acres) for that, we don't know the age.

I am headed back out Friday, so if anyone is interested in more info on an available horse, please let me know and i'll see what I can find out Friday.

I just posted your link onto a site in West TN. It is primarily a poultry site, but many of the members are also horse people. They are 'somewhat' local to Blount, so maybe the transportation will not be such a problem for them as it would be for others. If I was 'local', I certainly would have been interested. Next year, I probably will be local, and will check out your site. Good luck with your 'chore'.
