MIni donkey question

How long should my mini donkey baby nurse for? He is 6 weeks old and eating hay and grass and grain. The folks who own him are wanting to sell him but I will not let them till he is weaned.

We have several and sometimes they will nurse for 5 months or so. We are bottle feeding one now that was rejected by it's mother, and she is now about 5 months old and still wants and needs her milk replacement every day. She will eat alfalfa cubes, grain, and graze with the others.

5 months is the soonest I wean and donkey or horse.
To do so sooner can cause a lot of health and mental issues.

We have 4 mini donks all boys. We have a very good relationship with our breeder and will be purchasing our girls from her in a year or so. I was just IM'ing her and asked her about this and she will not wean prior to a baby being 5 months, often 6 months.
